This verse seems to express the sadness then joy that Jesus’ disciples experienced on the weekend of His crucifixion. Friday was filled with weeping and sorrow as Jesus was nailed to the cross and died, yet Sunday morning, Jesus rose from the dead and though they didn’t believe at first, their hearts were filled with joy as they came to understand that Jesus really was alive! We too can "sing praises to the Lord" and have "joy in the morning" because of Jesus’ resurrection.
