Of Our New Day Begun, the title track on the new album by the Western Kentucky University Wind Ensemble is taking the wind band world by storm. The work was premiered by the WKU Wind Ensemble at the CBDNA Southern Division Conference in Charleston, SC in 2016, and was written in response to the tragic shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church on June 17, 2015. The album also features several newer works by Mark Ford (Stubernic Fantasy with Mark Ford performing on the marimba), Ben Lee (Flaher), Matthew Herman (Dawn, and Last Full Measure of Devotion), as well as some superb, but lesser known works by Charles Ives (Postlude in F), French composer Georges Auric (Divertimento), and Carl Friedemann (Slavonic Rhapsody No. 1).
