Composed by Geoffrey Cottrell. Contemporary. 29 pages. Geoffrey Cottrell #6085. Published by Geoffrey Cottrell (A0.866294).

I wrote this Sonatina for a clarinettist friend who has performed it in Oxford's famous Holywell Music Room. It is written using the octatonic scale. There are three movements: First a bright and lively Allegro featuring rhythmic exchanges between pianist and wind player, then a Larghetto - 'Misterioso' - exploiting the mysterious lower register of the bass clarinet in various trills and suspensions and then the Finale - again a lively muscular piece with many conversations driving towards an exhilarating conclusion. 'Sonatina' fills a need for a concert display piece featuring the bass clarinet and has a duration of about 10 minutes.
