By Arthur Frackenpohl

https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/10-duets-for-trumpet-and-horn-sheet-music/3582939

Duet Trumpet and Horn in F (trumpet and french horn) - 4-5
Composed by Arthur Frackenpohl (1923-2019). Duet. Kendor Ensemble Series. Set of playing scores. Kendor Music Inc #18260. Published by Kendor Music Inc (KN.18260).

Item Number: KN.18260

In this exciting set of originals, Frackenpohl uses a distinctive combination of classic and contemporary forms, styles, meters and tonalities to feature the idiomatic strengths of experienced brass players. Ranges are not extreme (B5 trumpet, G5 horn), and these selections are especially excellent for contest, jury and recital presentations.

This is a fantastic set of duets that IMHO lays perfectly for horn and B-flat trumpet. They are challenging enough to give even more advanced players some need to concentrate. Very enjoyable and lyrical; they are somewhat modern sounding but based on traditional chord structures and musical forms. Heartily...

recommended. FWIW, I am a horn player with music degree who has not played for some time, but picked it up again to play with my trumpet-playing son. He is young but extremely good; he's been playing for 3 years but beats out players with 4-6 years more playing. I can sight read the duets; my son needs to work on them more. Both of us love them.

Moderately challenging because of use of 5/5 and 7/8 time signatures, for example, along with less-often-heard modes and occasional dissonant harmonies. We found most of these pieces also work for trombone and horn, although that pairing brings out the darker sonorities.
