William Giannone attended SUNY Fredonia, studied flute with Dr. Donald Hartman and was graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude. After college, Bill enlisted in the US Army and became a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, NY. While in the army, he attended Teachers College of Columbia University and received a Master of Arts degree. At Columbia he studied with John Wummer, principal flute New York Philharmonic (1942 – 1965). While in the Army, Bill also studied with Harold Bennett, principal flute with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra (1944-1965). Bill has performed with many groups on Long Island. Bill is a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Rho Chi, Fredonia State).
