Between the time we say goodbye and the time we meet again, music can bring solace. For a moment in Edgar Allan Poe’s poem "The Raven," the narrator imagines that the bird is sent to bring nepenthe – a medicine that will enable him to forget his grief at the loss of his beloved. Like the nepenthe in "The Raven," music provides only temporary respite.

"The Time in Between" is a perpetuum mobile: a constant stream of notes. Above figurations reminiscent of a Baroque prelude, the melody slowly falls.
