Published by Sarah Chaffee (H0.434171-SC001309046)."The Baker's Wife" isn't one of Stephen Schwartz's most well-known musicals, especially compared to smash hits like "Wicked" and "Godspell," but it has still established a cult following - mainly for its incredible songwriting! "Serenade" is full of soaring melodies, gorgeous and sometimes unexpected harmonies, and lush countermelodic layers, all set against a subtle but driving background of guitar arpeggios. I created this arrangement for five cellos after playing in the pit orchestra for a production of the show - even after the curtain, I couldn't get this song out of my head. Rated advanced for some treble clef and stuff very high up on the fingerboard every once in a while.

Sarah "Cellobat" Chaffee earned her bachelor's degree in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and is now based in Las Vegas. She currently performs with Aerosmith in their "Deuces Are Wild" residency at The Park MGM Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Sarah is also the principal cellist in David Perrico's Pop Strings Orchestra, a 14-piece band that performs every Friday and Saturday at Caesars Palace, and she plays regularly for Premiere Wedding Music and Bella Electric Strings.
