An original composition for saxophone quartet, Meridian is a Latin-inspired tune which evokes the sensuality of a tango or rumba. Written for SATB instrumentation, the melody is initially carried in the soprano line with countermelodies in both the alto and tenor lines, which is then reversed so the alto takes the lead for the middle section. An exciting piece that is still easy listening, this is a great in both a concert and more informal gig setting.
