Commissioned in 2012 by the First International Knushevitsky Cello Competition, this was an obligatory work for the competition's second round.The piece consists of two contrasting parts, a lyrical and polyphonic introduction and a fast-paced and technically demanding Allegro, which features a few Russian folk music elements. Approximate duration 7 minutes.Sviatoslav Nikolaevich Knushevitsky was the legendary Russian cellist, best known for his incredibly beautiful cello tone. The composer has studied at Moscow Central Music School and at Moscow State Conservatory with Sviatoslav Knushevtisky's pupil, Professor Igor Gavrysh.
