You will not find much of this modernism in the 'Partita' (1961). With this composition van Baaren clearly wanted to write playful music in the style of Hindemith. The suite has a neo-classical character, is easy to perform and is easy on the ear. The introducing Intrada is followed by a Bourree the theme of which also appears in reverse. The Sarabande is followed by a extremely well composed Gigue (Jig).
