For Treble Choirs of any age, this delightfully touching song of around 4 minutes in duration draws on the composer's own thoughts, experiences, and reflections that as young people we are all-too often in a hurry to grow up and 'be something'; but, with age and experience, our simple, authentic, and joyful childhood ideals, loves, and experiences can become increasingly cherished memories and motives.

Catchy and gently upbeat, Young In My Heart connects with performers and audiences through the eyes of a young person innocently envisaging what they would like to be and do when they are grown up. It is also a subtle nod to our adult selves in which we are still - in a lot of ways - the child we once were but with very real struggles finding and nurturing our individual voice and place in a 'grown-up' world.

*This work may be performed in 2 rather than 3 parts by covering the part 3 feature verse and choosing just one additional harmony note where the vocals split into 3 parts; however, do perform the Part 1 divisi if possible. The High F# in this section may be substituted with a unison D (as indicated) if necessary. This work may also be performed in unison throughout, or as a solo, by just singing the melody line in whichever part it occurs.
