This is one of Brahms' best known and most magical Lieder (songs), tastefully arranged for solo piano by Ethan McGrath. "Wie Melodien" was originally written for voice and piano and is in a modified strophic form, essentially meaning that it has three verses. Ethan McGrath creates contrast in his piano arrangement by placing Brahms' melody in a different register of the piano for each verse. This arrangement is approachable by intermediate pianists and is a good exercise in learning to voice a melodic line above accompanimental figuration in different registers.
