The traditional Ukrainian Christmas carol “What Great Wonder Is This” (in Ukrainian: “Що то за предиво” – “Shcho to za predyvo”) exists in many regional versions. The current instrumental setting has three verses, each in its own key and augmented by a short prelude and postlude. The first verse is soloed by the Second Trumpet over an ostinato. The second has the Horn and Trombone play the melody in octave unison. The third is led by the First Trumpet and has the character of a five-part choral hymn. The 25-page document includes Full Score, Parts, Song with Lyrics & Translation, and background information plus some suggestions regarding performance. Skill level: Intermediate.
