Lent & Easter Musical This poignant 35-minute Tenebrae Service is designed to recreate the emotional and spiritual aspects of the Passion Story through music. Both traditional and contemporary hymns and songs are combined with congregational singing, scripture reading, and narration to paint a vivid and moving picture of Christ's last days and his journey to the cross. Included are instructions for lighting and extinguishing candles throughout the service, creating a dramatic Good Friday effect so that, by the end, the congregation is in total darkness. Performance may be done simply with choir, piano and narration, or may be enhanced with the instrumental parts, which include a Conductor's Score and parts for 2 violins, cello, flute, clarinet and string reduction for organ or synthesizer.
