Wassail (Solo/unison version) Unison Choir - Digital Sheet Music

In Old English, the term 'wassail' has a variety of meanings regarding secular festivities and salutations at New Year. Similarly, the traditional wassail folk-song or carol exists in many versions, from various counties right across England, with differing lyrics and (numbers of) verses, dating back as far as the 12th century. This setting uses an original folk-style melody, here presented alone in a version for any solo voice, or unison voices. The words are adapted, in 5 verses, from a version of the Yorkshire Wassail. This setting is devised flexibly, as outer verses can feature performers processing and/or recessing, as well as varied dynamics, and options regarding solos, canons, singing in octaves, and the use/alternation of upper/lower voices. The work is highly accessible for the listener and for performers.Duration: 3 minutes.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK) & ASCAP (USA).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
