Liszt Via Crucis

This is an extraordinary - a musical journey of the 14 Stations of the Cross. It is scored for SATB chorus (with vocally insignificant solos) and organ or piano accompaniiment. The chorus parts are not technically challenging but require a musical sensitivy; furthermore there are relatively few chorus passages in terms of the total length of the piece. My choir is performing the work this Easter in the piano version. Liszt's piano writing is reserved, mostly slow and contemplative, but requires a pianist of outstanding sensitivity. Our performance will be accompanied by appropriate projected visual images in a church with restrained lighting.
