Derek Hasted writes "This charming and uplifting piece makes a wonderful concert item for all abilities of Clarinet and Guitar players from Early Intermediate upwards.
Set in the same key as Cyndi Lauper’s original, everything is comfortable to play, and my transcription is based on the gentle simplicity found in her official video. The music mainly sits in the Chalumeau register of the Bb clarinet to give a wonderfully hollow sound, but there is a need to “cross the break” a few times in the refrains.
The music rises and falls, making the dynamics happen almost automatically, and yet there are plenty of opportunities in the phrasing for a relaxed duo to make this piece absolutely magical.
