Swan Hennessy (1866 -1929) was born in Rockford, Illinois, studied at Oxford and in Germany, settling in Paris. The influence of Irish folk music and the modes peculiar to it is noticeable in most of his 70 compositions, which include many piano works and albums, various chamber music for small ensembles, and 4 string quartets.
