TIME TO SAY GOODBYE - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensemble

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleDerek Hasted writes "This is a very accessible arrangement of an astonishingly lovely, sad yet heartwarming, piece, and I’ve based my arrangement on the beautiful arrangement that Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli sang - find it on YouTube.I’ve used some arranging tricks, including sub-harmonics (a way to generate deep bass for minimal effort) to make a big wall of sound that an intermediate ensemble can realize easily. It means that 4 guitars (or a large ensemble) can make a sound that an audience will love.Guitar 1 follows Sarah’s part in the duet, and Guitar 2 follows Andrea’s; though both move to accompanying roles rather than sit in silence, to help the ensemble keep both volume and momentum. The dynamics on the parts will make that happen seamlessly. Be sure that the accompanying voices aren’t too loud, as they sometimes rise above the tune.I’ve changed the key to one that utilizes the full range of notes on the neck and which will seem familiar and comfortable under the fingers. This will make a spectacular final item or encore in a concert; the powerful melody will leave audiences with an ear worm on their journey home! The part scores are 3 sheets - if you stick the three sheets together with sticky tape, they’ll fit safely on a music stand.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek Hasted writes "This is a very accessible arrangement of an astonishingly lovely, sad yet heartwarming, piece, and I’ve based my arrangement on the beautiful arrangement that Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli sang - find it on YouTube.

I’ve used some arranging tricks, including sub-harmonics (a way to generate deep bass for minimal effort) to make a big wall of sound that an intermediate ensemble can realize easily. It means that 4 guitars (or a large ensemble) can make a sound that an audience will love.

Guitar 1 follows Sarah’s part in the duet, and Guitar 2 follows Andrea’s; though both move to accompanying roles rather than sit in silence, to help the ensemble keep both volume and momentum. The dynamics on the parts will make that happen seamlessly. Be sure that the accompanying voices aren’t too loud, as they sometimes rise above the tune.

I’ve changed the key to one that utilizes the full range of notes on the neck and which will seem familiar and comfortable under the fingers.

This will make a spectacular final item or encore in a concert; the powerful melody will leave audiences with an ear worm on their journey home!

The part scores are 3 sheets - if you stick the three sheets together with sticky tape, they’ll fit safely on a music stand.

I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"
