'The Three Sisters' is inspired by the beautiful Australian landmark of the same name, located in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. This piano piece echoes the vastness and beauty of this iconic landscape.
I was inspired by reading about the Aboriginal dream-time legend which tells of three sisters, who were revered members of their tribe. The three sisters dared to fall in love with three brothers from the neighbouring tribe, despite their union being forbidden. The witchdoctor from the sisters’ tribe intervenes to protect the sisters by turning them into stone, preserving them for eternity.
The music transports listeners to the heart of this beautiful place. Perhaps you will hear the longing and melancholy of the sisters, locked in their magnificent rock formation, standing tall as a testament to the enduring consequences of their forbidden love.
