The Girl From Ipanema (garôta De Ipanema) by Antonio Carlos Jobim Small Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music

By Antonio Carlos Jobim

Brazilian bossa nova ("new trend") music evolved from samba in the late 1950s with influences from American blues. This arrangement of "The Girl from Ipanema" preserves the characteristic harmonic ambiguity of traditional bossa nova as well as the song's melodic line rhythm for the original Portuguese lyrics, based on the versions recorded by Pery Ribeiro (1963) and by João and Astrud Gilberto with Stan Getz (1964). Arranged for six clarinets with sophisticated harmonies, this is a rich rendition of the famous song that will appeal to blues fans, music theory nerds, and fans of the original Brazilian recordings.
