This collection attempts to unite jazz and church music together by taking well-known hymns and
reworking them into jazz settings. A fairly simplified "Fake Book" (a.k.a. lead sheet) presentation is used in order to allow performance by a variety of solo musicians and/or instrument combinations. Although only one verse is presented
for each hymn, please feel free to repeat several times, adding your own embellishments or even improvising an original melody over the chords. Also, feel free to experiment with different tempos, styles, and grooves. The performance
options are endless!

The Fake Hymnal, Vol. 1 is also available for Bb and Eb instruments. All editions of Vol. 1 are compatible with one another to allow for a variety of jazz combos. Great for church and school performances!
