Composed by Lin Zhang, Nai Zhong Guan, and Youyuan Li. Arranged by Evans, Jack. Contemporary. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. Jack Stanley Evans #5899395. Published by Jack Stanley Evans (A0.964301).The East is Red
Based on a traditional folk melody from Shaanxi province in northern China, this song’s lyrics were rewritten twice; firstly in 1944, to describe the Chinese struggle against Japanese occupation, and again in 1949, as a hymn to Chairman Mao. It later became the title song of a Chinese Communist film and served as the country’s unofficial national anthem during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).
This technically straightforward and uncluttered arrangement allows the famous melody to be clearly heard, so ensure to articulate every note as clearly and expressively as possible. Aim for a steady build of emotion and volume throughout.
This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
