This carol depicts the mothers’ tearful song as they weep for the loss of their children. The play is based on the Christmas Story as depicted in the Gospel of Matthew. Specifically the part of the story where King Herod orders the death of all male infants under the age of two, in an act known as the “Massacre of the Innocents”.
