Maybe I'm missing something...

A friend and I were looking for duets to play together, and I was excited about this book because I love listening to tango music. Upon reading the arrangement of Tango Por una Cabeza and glancing at the others, we decided against playing them. The arrangements don't seem to provide sufficient support for the chord structure, and the writing isn't very violinistic (there are some difficult octaves in otherwise easy music, and some sections alternate between pizz and arco rather unexpectedly). Maybe there are some tango violin traditions that I'm unaware of that make these arrangements authentic, but if not, they don't seem particularly impressive to me. My friend and I ended up playing the Violins 1&2 parts from the quartet arrangement of Tango Por una Cabeza.
