Symphony No. 5 by Anton Bruckner was written in 1875-76 and given the name of Fantastic by the composer himself, although never added to the score. Unfortunately, Bruckner never heard a live performance by orchestra of this glorious work. Randall Malmstrom has arranged extracts of the Adagio movement for a 5-part Trombone Ensemble including alto on the top part and a contrabass on the bottom part, giving it a very wide and luscious sonority. The 5 1/2 minute arrangement is appropriate for advanced performers.
