The Symphony No 1, my first large scale work in symphonic form was composed directly into full score May-July 2019. It is in three movements: The Symphony is broadly tonal though modern in style. I Hymn - a broad expansive opening movement II Nocturne - a dark disturbed movement that inhabits the world of dreams III Passacaglia - which gradually drives itself towards an affirmative conclusion, only to sidestep to end in peaceful unease. The Symphony is a challenging work for the performers. Parts are available upon request.
