Following on from a set of clarinet and piano pieces written during covid, Soul Stories vol 2 continues the theme of exploring our emotions through music. This time written for alto sax and piano, we again have a lot of interaction between the 2 instruments with the alto sax sometimes being the solo instrument and sometimes being the supporting instrument. Beginning with Rainbows and Promises, the piece picks up on the theme of hope and promises even when there's rain. Emerging Butterflies depicts the struggles we sometimes have to go through to become stronger and more beautiful as people, just like the butterfly strengthening it's wings coming out of the cocoon. Restoring Beauty is all about restoration following trials. Mosaic takes fragments of the other pieces to make something new - similar to the concept of Kintsugi. Flying Free is the finale, with the soul taking flight following the troubles encountered.
