"Song Sung Blue" was Neil Diamond's second No.1 single in the US in 1972, and it also reached No.14 in the UK chart. It was nominated for two Grammy Awards in the following year, and in 2025 its title was used for a film about a Neil Diamond tribute act, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. Other cover versions have been recorded by Bobby Darin, Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra. The song itself is catchy and since it has a low to middle range it can be sung by almost anyone. This arrangment would suit an beginner-intermediate level choir or even just a duet of two voices. There are two vocal parts, which can be sung by almost any combination of male/female, high/low voices. After the introduction, they take it in turns to sing a phrase before harmonising, and later on there is an "echo" style section where they copy each other. The accompaniment is deliberately straightforward but it can be embellished, perhaps with some extra instruments (such as a guitar), and the mood should always be relaxed, almost like sitting around a campfire and strumming a few chords.
