The Song of the Venetian Gondoliers is a short, lyrical piece by Felix Mendelssohn. It is one in a collection of his Songs Without Words that he composed originally for piano, between 1829 and 1845. It is a lovely tune, and you can almost hear the lapping of the water on the sides of their boats as they ferry you through the canals of Venice on a hot, sunny day.’ Although we have given this a low/intermediate grading, it would also be a delightful additon to the repertoire for a more advanced ensemble.
