Sonates pour le Viollon et pour le clavecin. Vol 1: Sonata I (d), Sonata II (D) by Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre Violin Solo - Sheet Music

By Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre

La Guerre's sonatas belong to the first examples of this genre in France. The composer was aware of her being a renewer of musical form and she named the iron (which she did own) and the sonata as the most remarkable inventions of the 17th century. La Guerre composed 6 Violin Sonatas, which were published in 1707. The first two Sonatas which are presented in this volume show typical features of La Guerre's style: a sequence of numerous contrasting movements (the longer one of the two sonatas has got 7movements) and a cello part which gains an own quality and is not just a colouring the sound of left-hand keyboard.
