Von den insgesamt 5 Sonaten für Violine und Klavier waren bisher nur die drei letzten allgemein bekannt. Diese zweite Sonate, aus dem Nachlass, stammt aus dem Jahre 1926, einer kurzen "neoklassizistischen" Phase des Komponisten, und wurde erst 1963 uraufgeführt. Durch die formale Geschlossenheit und die musikalische Aussage ist diese Sonate den drei bekannten Sonaten völlig ebenbürtig.
