Composed by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Rupert Austin. Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Standards. Score. 6 pages. Rupert Austin #887691. Published by Rupert Austin (A0.1297720).

An arrangement for solo piano of the classic song by Carmichael and Mercer in jazz ballad style. Performance duration is about 4 minutes 30 seconds.

A very free approach to tempo should be used in the first half (measures 1-32). This is followed by a slow stride style section (measures 33-56) where the tempo should be more strict and less pedal should be used. For the final statment of the theme (measures 57-64) a return to a freer style with more pedal is recommended.

Some fingering suggestions have been included. Dynamic markings are just a guide as other approaches could be tried.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
