Fue estrenada el 4 de septiembre de 1993 dentro de la Schubertiada a Vilabertran. Su interpretacion corrio a cargo del pianista Lluis Avendano. Se hicieron ocho encargos a ocho compositores catalanes bajo el titulo de Variaciones sobre el tema del Impromptu en la bemol mayor de Schubert. Xavier Montsalvatge creo una pieza breve para piano de dificultad alta; los demas compositores a los que tambien se les hizo dicho encargo y cuya obra esta publicada en Boileau son: Jordi Cervello, A Franz Schubert. B.2957 Delfi Colome, Variacio sobre un tema Schubert (ma esquerra) B.2984 Antoni-Olaf Sabater, Sequencia puntillista on hi ha un Schubert amagat B.2974 Albert Sarda, Variacions sobre un tema de Schubert Op.142 n!2 B.2956 Josep Soler, Variaciones sobre un tema de Schubert Op.142 no. 2 B.2955.
