The score is always presented in a way that is clean and easy to read. The background information is illuminating, and the analyses contain enough information to give the student direction in breaking open the score. I would love to see a companion volume that contains more single movement works by Schubert, such as the Valses Nobles, and the Drei Klavierstucke, the hungarian Melody, the Allegretto in minor, etc.. The advanced student will reap rich rewards from studying this music, which is, As Arthur Schnabel once said, is better than it can be played.
