First of 2 wonderful volumes, a joy to play
I found my way to these from a concert by Marlene Dietrich to a B&W film from Germany between the wars (many of which are on YouTube in full length). There is so much good music here, full of melody and schmaltzy lyrics. They are very rewarding to the sight-reading pianist who wants to be an orchestra. I have great memories of sing-alongs with German students & faculty at several colleges & universities. I'd love to turn the clock back to those times, with happy singers clustered behind me at the piano. Both volumes are reasonably priced.
