Check the Author's Introduction of this book against the Introduction to _Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns_, by Nicolas Slonimsky. With due respect to Dr. Lateef, the use of some of Slominsky's phraseology is unmistakable, but no acknowledgment appears in Lateef's book. Nevertheless, it is a valuable addition to any student or teacher's library.
