Out of tune orchestra.. and I don't have a perfect ear. Badly out of tune, one of the french horn players would have gotten beat up by bach(he liked to fight guys that were out of tune. extremely loose performance, honestly if this is how the orchestra performs they should try more simple material. The piano playing is average at best. The piano score is fine, a little small for so many notes. It would have been nice to know the entire production is not tuned to 440! who can bear hearing your piano at 440 and this recording at 335 or so hard to tell by ear.

Awesome
Rachmaninov is amazing at writing concertos. I could understand that maybe if you are hard of sight it would be difficult to read a few sections but if your eyes are road safe then they are more than adequate for reading this piece Like the book, the CD's are very good quality. I would advice this to you.

Great buy
I'm extremely satisfied with this set! I put on the complete version cd, found the opening tempo a little dragging but once I synced myself with it, the quality of the soloist and orchestra actually stunned me! They were indeed playing on a high level! I think this set is worth buying for three reasons: the high quality of the complete version cd, the accompaniment is good enough for performance (perhaps with minor alterations to suit one's interpretation), and the included score is fine (this concerto is dense so it's understandable to have engraving reduced. otherwise, too many page turns).
