There is also an optional Contrabass part which means the arrangement can be used by a String Orchestra. In addition, to his well-known compositions like the Enigma Variations, Pomp and Circumstance Marches and the Cello Concerto, Elgar also wrote a number of shorter pieces for Violin and Piano. Of these, ‘Chanson de Matin’ has become the most popular piece.
