Polovtsian Dances from Borodin's Prince Igor comprises the first commonly played movement of the suite, Themes from No. 17. This is an excellent arrangement for an intermediate to advanced level ensemble. Violin 1 requires minimal shifting and comfort with grace notes and longer slurs. Violin 2 has a single shift into 3rd position and plays the gorgeous counter melody at the end of the piece. Viola takes the melody in the B section. Bass and cello parts are unique, both requiring some shifting and use of harmonics.The PDF download contains a full score and all five parts - Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, and Bass.
