Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1737197).Gioachino Rossini is of course well known for his grand operas, like "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," "La Cenerentola" and "Guillaume Tell." But he essentially gave up composing operas at the young age of 37. For the last 40 years of his life he wrote only vocal and chamber music, mostly for the musical salons at his home in Paris. One enormous opus of this period is his 150 works for voice, chamber and solo piano pieces called "Péchés de vieillesse" or "Sins of Old Age."
I immediately thought, "Hey what a great idea." So, I took the libretti from the 12 songs of Volume 1 italiano and made my own version of "Péchés" in a collection of nine songs.
