Pastorale by Arcangelo Corelli Brass Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music

By Arcangelo Corelli

Arcangelo Corelli was an Italian violinist and composer of the Baroque era. His music was key in the development of the modern genres of sonata and concerto using modern tonality and harmonies. His musical education focused mainly on the violin and he established the preeminence of the violin in instrumental ensembles. He was received in the highest circles of the aristocracy in Rome and died quite wealthy. Presented here, is the popular Pastorale movement from his Concerto Grosso No. 8 in G minor. That Concerto was first played around 1690. It is noted by him as “made for the night of Christmas”. He saves the Pastorale for the final movement ending that concerto. A calming and beautiful piece, the 12/8 meter flows in a relaxing setting that has delighted audiences for years.
