Pass Me Not by Fanny J. Crosby Small Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music

By Fanny J. Crosby

Crosby was a 19th century hymnist and teacher for the blind from New York. Doane was a 19th centruy industrialist, philanthropist, and hymnist from Connecticut. The hymn is based on texts from Genesis 18:3, Psalm 34:17-18, 2 Peter 3:9, among others. Sections A and C are the verse. Section B and D are the refrain. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of section B with the aid of a French augmented sixth chord. A descant by yours truly is then introduced in section C. This work should not be rushed but rather played with a spirit of reverence and humility.
