Originally composed and performed by the American singer and songwriter Oley Speaks in 1907, this song setting of text by Rudyard Kipling tells the story of a 19th Century soldier returning home from war and his romance overseas in Burma. The arrangement works as a solo for any Bb instrument within a brass band, though the recording features a cornet sound.
