Composed by Bronislau Kaper and Ned Washington. Arranged by David Heywood. Soul. Score and parts. 89 pages. David Heywood #5208991. Published by David Heywood (A0.910424).Looking for something different? This version of On Green Dolphin Street is a thorough
re-imagining of one of the most well-known standards in jazz - the infusion of a Cuban
Cascara groove and sweeping reharmonizations add extra energy and dazzle to this familiar
tune. Scored for flute quartet (3 C flutes and Alto flute) with rhythm section, this
arrangement includes two solo sections – one in Cuban style and one in swing – for anyone
that wants one, with piano montunos and bass lines written in, along with a written
drum groove. There is also a written soli swing section for the flutes. This chart is
super high-energy from start to finish, and would work well for a sax section feature
of flute doubles. The rhythm section parts will be a challenge for those not used to
this Cuban groove, but the results will be absolutely worth the effort!
