Composed by Hal Owen. Text: Rev 7:9, 12. Comfortable All Saints motet. General, All Saints. Octavo. Published by CanticaNOVA Publications (C5.5084).

With paraphrased text from the Book of Revelation, O How Glorious Is the Kingdom is a very useful anthem of easy-moderate difficulty. It works well on All Saints Day, or can be sung anytime as a general anthem. Dr. Harold Owen, Professor Emeritus and former Chairman of the Music Department at the University of Oregon School of Music, has written an interesting anthem that an accomplished church choir can sing quite easily, but also one that less skilled singers will enjoy learning without being frustrated. The ranges are comfortable: soprano (D-F), alto (Bb-Db), tenor (Eb-F), bass (Bb-Db). Frequent use is made of two-part texture among the four voices. Easy meter changes (3/4 to 6/8 to 3/8) allow for variety without confusion. The full text: "O how glorious is the kingdom wherein all the saints rejoice in Christ. Clothed in white robes they follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth, praising God, and saying: Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor and power and might, be unto our God forever and ever. Amen." [See Revelation 7:9,12]. This anthem is a fine acclamation as "God's holy Church rejoices that her children are one with the saints in lasting peace." [Solemn Blessing, Solemnity of All Saints].
