This arrangement has depth, variety, and a grand ending. With respect to depth, the first 16 bars bring together the brass in a most mysterious way, weaving the texture together and culminating in a nicely wrought hemiola in mm. 14 - 16. The second verse is for choir only, and most satisfying. The grand ending repeats the final line of text, setting it in a grand hemiola-shaped ending. With all respect, far from a dirge, this is church music at its most profound. Highly recommended.
