O CRUOR SANGUINIS by Hildegard von BIngen, arranged for double-bass by Hildegard Von Bingen Double Bass - Digital Sheet Music

By Hildegard Von Bingen

The German Benedictine abbess and polymath Hildegard of Bingen lived from c. 1098 to 17th September 1179. She was active as a writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, visionary, and as a medical writer and practitioner during the High Middle Ages. The Pope recognised her as a saint in 2012. She is one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony, as well as the most recorded in modern history. She has been considered by scholars to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany. Her antiphon chant O cruor sanguinis (O stream of blood) describes the the world's anguish as the news of Christ's crucifixion spread. Inspired by the playing of Leon Bosch, I have arranged it for doublebass solo, including a drone (but the drone could be given by another instrument).DURATION: 2 minutes.
