Not Ready To Make Nice by Dixie Chicks Small Ensemble - Digital Sheet Music

On March 10, 2003, ten days before the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Natalie Maines told a London audience she was ashamed the President of the United States was from Texas. Country radio stations stopped playing their music, thousands called in to complain, and the group received death threats. Three years later, The Chicks answered back. Co-writer Dan Wilson arrived at the writing session with a more conciliatory idea; Maines said no. Wilson then suggested “I’m not ready to make nice” — something that didn’t back down but still carried vulnerability. The song won three Grammy Awards in 2007: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Maddux’s TTBB arrangement opens with a simmering, fragmented refrain before the full chorus erupts — controlled fury that builds to an unforgettable finish. The most politically charged number in the revue, and the one that earns a standing ovation.part-predominant rehearsal tracks and accompaniment track available at davidmaddux.com
