Not in original key for most of the book.
Almost every song in this book has been transposed from its original key to be more playable. Sometimes they note that it has been transposed and on the occasion that they do note the transposition it's off by about 3 or 4 half steps. It's almost as if the creators of the book didn't take the music seriously and didn't believe that a Nirvana fan would actually be able to play the songs in the right key. It's kind of insulting. With that said, Kurt Cobain's melodies are quite intricate and sometimes complicated. His melodies (and sometimes chord progressions) remind me of The Beatles. If you change the instrumentation from loud guitars to more melodic instruments then the songs really do take on new shapes.
